It's taken a little while, but the ZPAWS book is getting close to being done. After two kids and three more years of writing when I could, I've submitted part of my manuscript to some publishers for review. Fingers crossed!! The great thing is, the ZPAWS manual has become better, more hilarious, and even more informative.

I'll be posting some more tomorrow with some samples of the book for your perusal. Let's advance the zombie genre together and add zombie animals to the list of zombie creations!!

What's Your Favorite Zombie Animal Name?

We all have names for things. From Adam going crazy in the Garden of Eden to scientists gazing into outer space, we have named everything we can. Why not name a zombie animal? We don't consider you human if you don't name your zombie pet. It's in your nature! So let's hear your favorite zombie animal name. If you're lucky then maybe your zombie animal's name will appear in our new book: HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR ZOMBIE ANIMAL.

Think of it like a contest. How awesome would it be to have your creation appear (uncredited) to the whole world? You can brag to all your friends how awesome you are, how smart, how popular, and witty, not to mention amazing and boringly creative. Yawn. So, post in the comments section below!

By the way, our current fav is Mittens Unraveled.

Tip of the Week: 9/9/11- Dealing with Weird Fungus and Bugs

For the first time zombie pet owner, we run across new things from time to time. A strange skin lesion or odd colored seepage can be alarming sometimes. Luckily, most of what you see is a normal development in an undead animal’s body that is in the advanced stages of decomposition. You’ll likely have seen TV shows about Criminology where they discuss forensics and the time it takes for a body to waste away. This science is how the authorities can determine, more or less, how long a body has been dead. Of course, if it’s brain in intact it’s more than likely a zombie anyway, so there’s no need to research it.
The living dead are a completely different matter than normal dead bodies. Undead animal bodies are even further in a different class. Their size, water weight, muscle fibers, and flesh consistency are far different from humans and thus their bodies decompose differently.
Have you ever been out walking in the woods and run across a dead squirrel on the ground? Have you ever poked it with a stick, and when it didn’t jump at you, turn it over to see what it looked like underneath? We have. And we quickly turned it back to the way it was.
Though the top of the squirrel was seemingly untouched by rot and decay, the underside was host to maggots and bugs, all devoted to the task of clearing up the dead flesh. This is the reason the bugs were created, but they are the zombie’s enemy. Because of the caged environment of your zombie pet, they may run into more bug problems than usual. Especially if you use a screened cage, smaller insects may get in to the zombie’s cage fairly frequently. A strong insecticide will battle against the will of the bugs trying to attack your zombie, but only so far.
Remember, your zombie animal will not be affected by insecticide, and it actually may benefit them in the long run. The moisture from the spray will add to their skin’s longevity, and obviously rid them of any current infestations. The bugs will die off and the zombie’s naturally dry skin will become more pliable and last a little longer, more or less. But, too much moisture could cause a problem.

The Official Unveiling of the New ZPAWS logo

Here's the LOGO!!! It will appear on every major (and minor) ZPAWS publication, i.e. newsletter, pamphlet, website, and multimedia presentations. We were actually so happy to show it to you, we didn't have time to take care of our zombie dog, which is now out of its cage by now. We think we hear it gnawing on the door to get in! Wish us luck! In the meantime, enjoy looking at the logo, we know we do. :-)
